阿蘇と久住とを比べると、
大地のパワーを感じられるのが、阿蘇。
空の広さを感じることができるのが、久住。

混雑している大観峰展望に飽きたら城山展望台！
上皇さまお立ち寄りの碑もあります。
大観峰に比べ、標高が低いので、
四季折々の田圃の景色が素晴らしく、
展望台も木を切ってくれてスッキリ。
震災で建替えたレストランは観光地価格なのが
地元民には残念ながら地元が誇れる美しい建物。
でもテラス席なら価格相応です。
山の景色はどこでもそうですが、
やっぱり、
光のコントラストがはっきりするので、
朝と夕方が特別綺麗ですね。

Here it is! There is also a monument of the Emperor's visit. It is lower in elevation than Daikanbo observation deck and closer to Mt. Aso, so the views of the rice fields in each season are wonderful, and the observation deck has been cleared of trees. The renovated restaurant is nice, but it's a little disappointing for locals because it's a tourist attraction price. But if you're sitting on the terrace, I guess it's worth the price.
Like all mountain scenery, the morning and evening are especially beautiful because of the clear contrast in light.

夕暮れの灯台。暑い雲に覆われ、
数名の方は帰ってしまいました。
私も一度は夕陽を諦めかけましたが、
信じて３０分以上粘った。

お気に入りのキャンプ場で出会った人が
九州で一番お気に入りな場所
と言っていたので行ってみたら凄かった。
行く途中の生月サンセットハイウェイは
CM撮影に使われる絶景ロードです。
日没後、漁火が見える時間まで粘ると
更に素敵な場所です。
夕方の似合うサンセットウェイにも美しい夕日の見える展望スペースがありますが、夕方を見るなら、迷わず、大バエ灯台へ急いでください。途中、いくつか駐車場がありますが、行き止まりにも駐車場がありますので、迷わず進んで下さい。
A few years ago, I met a guy at my favorite campground who said it was his favorite place in Kyushu, so I went there and it was amazing.
The IKUTUKI (Raw Moon）-Sunset-Highway on the way to the beach is a beautiful road used for filming commercials. If you stick around after sunset until you see the fishing fire, it's even more beautiful.
There is also a beautiful sunset viewing area on Sunset Way, which looks great in the evening, but if you want to see the evening, don't hesitate to hurry to the Big Bae Lighthouse. There are several parking lots along the way, but don't get lost, as there are also parking lots at dead ends.

事前の調査もなく、地図も持たず、スマホもほぼ故障状態でに旅行していたので、凄い！と持ったけど、遠くから写真だけ撮影してスルーした施設。しかし今、googlemapで調べてみて、廃墟感がたまらなく素敵らしく、行かなかったことを公開しています。
We were traveling with no prior research, no maps, and our phones were almost out of order, so awesome! The facility I had, but only took pictures from a distance and went through it.
But now, after looking it up on googlemap, I am disclosing that I didn't go there because the abandoned feeling seems so wonderful.
（旧）西海橋 (Old) Saikai Bridge
お金まで払ってジェットコースターに乗るような人にはお勧めかもしれません。
貧相な安全対策しかない細い橋なので、高所恐怖症の私はオートバイで通っても怖かったですが、ここを歩いて渡るというのは恐怖でしかありません。
なお、並走する新しい西海橋は自動車専用道路なので、原付オートバイは通行不可。
川のように流れる海に感動したけど、翌日に天草の南にある鹿児島県の黒之瀬戸大橋の下で観た海流はもっとすごかった。
If you're the kind of person who would pay to ride a roller coaster, this might be the place to go. It's a narrow bridge with only poor safety measures, so I was scared of heights, even on a motorcycle, but walking across it was just terrifying.
The new Saikai Bridge, which runs alongside it, is a motor vehicle-only road, so mopeds and motorcycles are not allowed to drive on it. I was impressed by the ocean flowing like a river, but the current we saw the next day under the Kuroyuki Seto Bridge in Kagoshima Prefecture, south of Amakusa, was even more impressive.

お目当ての原爆資料館は平和公園内にあるかと思ったら、少し離れているらしい。
スマホの故障で場所も分からず、フェリーの時間も気になるので今回はパス。

入場料をケチってはいりませんでしたが、今、調べてみると入るべきだったと後悔。

旧グラバー住宅 The Old Glover House
とても楽しみにしていた場所。熊本へ行くフェリーの時間を考えると立ち寄るのは難しかったのですが行ってみました。確かに入口に「工事中」とは書いていましたが、ここまで何も見られないと思っていなかったので凄く残念。他の幾つかのお宅を拝見した最後にグラバー邸を見る順路だっただけにお金も時間も無駄にした気分でした。
A place I was very much looking forward to visiting. It was difficult to stop by because of the time required for the ferry to get to Kumamoto, but we went. It did say "under construction" at the entrance, but I wasn't expecting to see anything so far, which was a shame. We felt like we were wasting our money and time as we were on our way to see the Glover house at the end of our visit to several other houses.
フェリーに乗れずに途方に暮れたが、南シナ海に沈む夕陽がきれいだった。
次回は必ずキャンプしようと思った。

I was at our wits' end because we couldn't get on the ferry, but the sunset over the South China Sea was beautiful.

まさか！３時間前に到着したのに、４連休のため、
バイクが多すぎてにフェリーに乗れなかった。
次の臨時便も既に満席で万事休す。
昼前に電話した時は、予約は出来ませんがバイクなら多分大丈夫
と言われて安心しきっていた。
どうしていいやら分からず、とりあえず、海を眺めていましたが
ノンアルコールビールとおつまみを買って白浜海岸までバイクで走り、
南シナ海に沈む本当に素晴らしい夕陽を眺めた。
真っ暗になった後、
殆ど壊れて動かないスマホで一時間以上かけてホテルを予約し
夜９時半に島原のホテルに到着した。
なお、秘密にしたいですが白浜海岸には松林にキャンプ場があります。キャンプ道具を持っていなかった事が本当に悔やまれました。
No way! We arrived 3 hours earlier,
but there were too many bikes on the ferry because of a 4-day weekend.
We also tried to wait for a special flight to be cancelled, but to no avail.
When I called before noon, I was relieved to be told that I couldn't make a reservation but that bikes would probably be fine.
I didn't know what to do, and anyway, I was looking out to sea.
I bought a non-alcoholic beer and snacks and rode my bike to the Shirahama coast and watched a really great sunset over the South China Sea.
After it became completely dark,
I booked a hotel for more than an hour with my phone,
which almost didn't work, and arrived at the hotel in Shimabara at 9:30pm.
In addition, I want to keep it a secret, but there is a campsite in the pine forest on the Shirahama coast. It was really regrettable that I did not have camping equipment.

日本の国立公園を、世界水準の「ナショナルパーク」としてインバウンド増を目指す「国立公園満喫プロジェクト」において、この度、具体的な取組を示すロードマップとして「阿蘇くじゅう国立公園ステップアッププログラム2020」を策定しましたのでお知らせします。
環境省では、政府が本年３月３０日にとりまとめた「明日の日本を支える観光ビジョン」に基づき、日本の国立公園を世界水準の「ナショナルパーク」としてのブランド化を図ることを目標に、2020年までに、訪日外国人を惹きつける上質な体験や大胆な利用拡大の取組を計画的、集中的に実施する「国立公園満喫プロジェクト」に取り組むことになりました。
阿蘇くじゅう国立公園は、その先導的モデルとなる８か所の国立公園のひとつに選定され、９月からこれまでの間、阿蘇くじゅう地域協議会において協議を進め、プロジェクトの具体的な取組を示すロードマップとして、この度、「阿蘇くじゅう国立公園ステップアッププログラム2020」を策定しました
阿蘇地域の最大の特徴は、世界最大級のカルデラ地形の景観と、活発な活動を続けているにもかかわらず火口底を間近に望める中岳に代表される火山が生み出す雄大な自然です。加えて、広大な草原は、野焼き、採草といった人々の営みによって千年以上もの間維持されており、褐あ かげ和種（あか牛）の放牧風景など、火山と草原と人々の営みが生み出すコントラストが映え、そ こには大陸系遺存種であるハナシノブやヒゴタイなど、希少な野生動植物も維持されています。平成 25 年 5 月には、持続的な草原の活用による循環型農業の結果、特徴的な生物多様性や草原景観、伝統文化が保全されていることが高く評価され世界農業遺産に認定されました。また、平成26 年 9 月には、世界でも最大級の大きさである阿蘇カルデラを軸とした教育・観光活動が評価されユネスコ世界ジオパークに認定されているほか、さらに、世界文化遺産登録を目指した取組が進められています。くじゅう地域は、九州本土最高峰の中岳（1,791 m）をはじめとした峰々からなるトロイデ（鐘状）型火山地形が広がるくじゅう連山を中心とした山岳地域です。硫気現象がみられ、火山灰等によって形成された特有の風景地が点在するほか、久住高原や飯田高原などの雄大な草原が広がっています。山麓に広がる草原地帯は、阿蘇地域と同様、長年にわたり人々の営みによって樹林化が抑えられてきました。草原のまま維持されていることから、絶滅が危惧されるヒゴタイ、キスミレ、エヒメアヤメ等の希少種が多く残されており、重要な生育地となっています。また、窪地が多く、豊富な湧水や雨水によって多数の湿原が発達しています。タデ原湿原や坊
ガツル湿原など学術的にも貴重な湿地も多く、山岳地域に形成された中間湿原では、国内最大級の面積を持つことなどから、国際的にも貴重な湿地であると認められ、平成 17 年 11 月には「くじゅう坊ガツル・タデ原湿原」として、ラムサール条約湿地に登録されました。別府の温泉の源である鶴見岳や、東峰と西峰の２つのピークがあり円錐形をしていることから豊後富士とも称される由布岳が美しい山容を誇っており、山稜からは別府湾や由布院盆地、くじゅう連山までを一望することができます。２）国立公園利用の特徴ですが、阿蘇くじゅう国立公園内外には、火山がもたらした恵みと人々の暮らしが息づいています。火山からは、別府温泉、由布院温泉、黒川温泉など全国でも有数の温泉地や数々の湧水・水源がもたらされ、さらに、自然に対する畏敬の念から農耕祭事や神社仏閣などの文化が根付き、雄大な自然景観とあいまって、多くの観光客が訪れています。なお、国内外からの公園利用者数は 2,000万人を超えています。（平成 26 年実績）
また、北外輪山中央部に突き出た大観峰（展望所）からは阿蘇五岳やカルデラ全体を眺望でき、最も有名な展望地点となっています。もともと地元では「遠見が鼻」と呼ばれており、徳富蘇峰が絶景に感動して、このように名づけたといわれています。
くじゅう連山は、阿蘇とともに「九州の屋根」と言われる九州を代表する山で、標高 1,791mの中岳を最高峰に、1,700m 以上の山８座を有しています。森の山、草原の山そして岩山と変化に富み眺望はすばらしく、登山道もよく整備されています。ミヤマキリシマの開花期には、日に数万人の登山者が訪れることも珍しくありません。
やまなみハイウェイは、別府観光の祖と言われる油屋熊八が、別府～阿蘇～熊本を結ぶ国際観光ルートとして昭和初期に提唱した構想で、昭和 39 年に供用開始しました。この九州を横断する観光ルートは九州のゴールデンルートと呼ばれ、沿線が観光地として大きく発展するきっかけとなりました。

In addition, the vast grasslands have been maintained for more than 1,000 years by people's activities, such as burning and grazing, and the contrast between the volcano, grasslands, and people's activities, such as the grazing of Japanese brown cattle, is reflected in the landscape. The area is dotted with unique scenic spots formed by volcanic ash and sulfuric phenomena, as well as magnificent grasslands such as Kusumi Plateau and Iida Plateau. Like the Aso area, the grasslands at the foot of the mountains have been suppressed by people's activities over the years. Because the grasslands have been maintained as they are, many rare species such as the endangered higotai, kismire, and ehime iris have been preserved, making them important habitats. In addition, there are many depressions, and many marshlands have developed due to abundant spring water and rainwater. From Daikanbong (observatory), which juts out from the center of the northern outer rim of the mountain, you can see the five peaks of Aso and the entire caldera. ゆうひカフェで、美味しい蕎麦を食べ、素敵なBGMも聞きつつ、みんなで・・・
豊後高田市らしい、おだやかな時間を、みんなで共有している感じでした
500Mほど西側の、写真スポットに移動して、「らしい」干潟の景色も堪能。
