阿蘇と久住とを比べると、
大地のパワーを感じられるのが、阿蘇。
空の広さを感じることができるのが、久住。
Although it is not expressed in this photo, when comparing Aso and Kuju plateau, it is Aso that enjoys the grandeur of the land. The Kuju plateau might be the one where you can feel the grandeur of the sky.

混雑している大観峰展望に飽きたら城山展望台！
上皇さまお立ち寄りの碑もあります。
大観峰に比べ、標高が低いので、
四季折々の田圃の景色が素晴らしく、
展望台も木を切ってくれてスッキリ。
震災で建替えたレストランは観光地価格なのが
地元民には残念ながら地元が誇れる美しい建物。
でもテラス席なら価格相応です。
山の景色はどこでもそうですが、
やっぱり、
光のコントラストがはっきりするので、
朝と夕方が特別綺麗ですね。

Here it is! There is also a monument of the Emperor's visit. It is lower in elevation than Daikanbo observation deck and closer to Mt. Aso, so the views of the rice fields in each season are wonderful, and the observation deck has been cleared of trees. The renovated restaurant is nice, but it's a little disappointing for locals because it's a tourist attraction price. But if you're sitting on the terrace, I guess it's worth the price.
Like all mountain scenery, the morning and evening are especially beautiful because of the clear contrast in light.

The first highlight of the Aso Panorama Line, the view from the big curve toward Mt.Neko.
カブの利点は
最小回転半径が1.9mなので反転が容易なところ。
CRF250は2.3m、アフリカツインは2.6m。
楽しそう細い道に、後先考えず入れます。
この道の行き止まりでは
3匹の大きな牛達が出迎えてくれました・・
・・と言うより睨みつけられてた感じ。
The advantage of a small bike is that you can go down any small road. If there's a narrow road that looks like fun, you'll want to get in. At the dead end of this road we were greeted by three large cows. It was more like they were staring at us, though.

夕暮れの灯台。暑い雲に覆われ、
数名の方は帰ってしまいました。
私も一度は夕陽を諦めかけましたが、
信じて３０分以上粘った。
Hot clouds covered the area and a few of us went home.
I almost gave up halfway through watching the sunset at one point.
Trust me, it was worth sticking around for over 30 minutes.
到着時点の夕陽も、
このように十分綺麗ではありましたが、
刻々と景色が変わります。

お気に入りのキャンプ場で出会った人が
九州で一番お気に入りな場所
と言っていたので行ってみたら凄かった。
行く途中の生月サンセットハイウェイは
CM撮影に使われる絶景ロードです。
日没後、漁火が見える時間まで粘ると
更に素敵な場所です。
夕方の似合うサンセットウェイにも美しい夕日の見える展望スペースがありますが、夕方を見るなら、迷わず、大バエ灯台へ急いでください。途中、いくつか駐車場がありますが、行き止まりにも駐車場がありますので、迷わず進んで下さい。
A few years ago, I met a guy at my favorite campground who said it was his favorite place in Kyushu, so I went there and it was amazing.
The IKUTUKI (Raw Moon）-Sunset-Highway on the way to the beach is a beautiful road used for filming commercials. If you stick around after sunset until you see the fishing fire, it's even more beautiful.
There is also a beautiful sunset viewing area on Sunset Way, which looks great in the evening, but if you want to see the evening, don't hesitate to hurry to the Big Bae Lighthouse. There are several parking lots along the way, but don't get lost, as there are also parking lots at dead ends.

事前の調査もなく、地図も持たず、スマホもほぼ故障状態でに旅行していたので、凄い！と持ったけど、遠くから写真だけ撮影してスルーした施設。しかし今、googlemapで調べてみて、廃墟感がたまらなく素敵らしく、行かなかったことを公開しています。
We were traveling with no prior research, no maps, and our phones were almost out of order, so awesome! The facility I had, but only took pictures from a distance and went through it.
But now, after looking it up on googlemap, I am disclosing that I didn't go there because the abandoned feeling seems so wonderful.
（旧）西海橋 (Old) Saikai Bridge
お金まで払ってジェットコースターに乗るような人にはお勧めかもしれません。
貧相な安全対策しかない細い橋なので、高所恐怖症の私はオートバイで通っても怖かったですが、ここを歩いて渡るというのは恐怖でしかありません。
なお、並走する新しい西海橋は自動車専用道路なので、原付オートバイは通行不可。
川のように流れる海に感動したけど、翌日に天草の南にある鹿児島県の黒之瀬戸大橋の下で観た海流はもっとすごかった。
If you're the kind of person who would pay to ride a roller coaster, this might be the place to go. It's a narrow bridge with only poor safety measures, so I was scared of heights, even on a motorcycle, but walking across it was just terrifying.
The new Saikai Bridge, which runs alongside it, is a motor vehicle-only road, so mopeds and motorcycles are not allowed to drive on it. I was impressed by the ocean flowing like a river, but the current we saw the next day under the Kuroyuki Seto Bridge in Kagoshima Prefecture, south of Amakusa, was even more impressive.
説明の必要のない場所。
お目当ての原爆資料館は平和公園内にあるかと思ったら、少し離れているらしい。
スマホの故障で場所も分からず、フェリーの時間も気になるので今回はパス。

I thought the A-bomb museum we were looking for was in the Peace Park, but I heard it was a bit far away.
I couldn't find out where it was due to a broken phone, and I was concerned about the ferry time, so I passed this time.
大浦天主堂 Taura Catholic Church
入場料をケチってはいりませんでしたが、今、調べてみると入るべきだったと後悔。
I didn't stint on the admission fee, but now that I've checked, I regret that I should have gone in.
旧グラバー住宅 The Old Glover House
とても楽しみにしていた場所。熊本へ行くフェリーの時間を考えると立ち寄るのは難しかったのですが行ってみました。確かに入口に「工事中」とは書いていましたが、ここまで何も見られないと思っていなかったので凄く残念。他の幾つかのお宅を拝見した最後にグラバー邸を見る順路だっただけにお金も時間も無駄にした気分でした。
A place I was very much looking forward to visiting. It was difficult to stop by because of the time required for the ferry to get to Kumamoto, but we went. It did say "under construction" at the entrance, but I wasn't expecting to see anything so far, which was a shame. We felt like we were wasting our money and time as we were on our way to see the Glover house at the end of our visit to several other houses.
フェリーに乗れずに途方に暮れたが、南シナ海に沈む夕陽がきれいだった。
次回は必ずキャンプしようと思った。
太陽が沈む前、太陽が沈む瞬間、沈んだ後の蒼い空、どれも素敵でした。
I was at our wits' end because we couldn't get on the ferry, but the sunset over the South China Sea was beautiful.
I will definitely camp there next time.

まさか！３時間前に到着したのに、４連休のため、
バイクが多すぎてにフェリーに乗れなかった。
次の臨時便も既に満席で万事休す。
昼前に電話した時は、予約は出来ませんがバイクなら多分大丈夫
と言われて安心しきっていた。
どうしていいやら分からず、とりあえず、海を眺めていましたが
ノンアルコールビールとおつまみを買って白浜海岸までバイクで走り、
南シナ海に沈む本当に素晴らしい夕陽を眺めた。
真っ暗になった後、
殆ど壊れて動かないスマホで一時間以上かけてホテルを予約し
夜９時半に島原のホテルに到着した。
なお、秘密にしたいですが白浜海岸には松林にキャンプ場があります。キャンプ道具を持っていなかった事が本当に悔やまれました。
No way! We arrived 3 hours earlier,
but there were too many bikes on the ferry because of a 4-day weekend.
We also tried to wait for a special flight to be cancelled, but to no avail.
When I called before noon, I was relieved to be told that I couldn't make a reservation but that bikes would probably be fine.
I didn't know what to do, and anyway, I was looking out to sea.
I bought a non-alcoholic beer and snacks and rode my bike to the Shirahama coast and watched a really great sunset over the South China Sea.
After it became completely dark,
I booked a hotel for more than an hour with my phone,
which almost didn't work, and arrived at the hotel in Shimabara at 9:30pm.
In addition, I want to keep it a secret, but there is a campsite in the pine forest on the Shirahama coast. It was really regrettable that I did not have camping equipment.
